Program of Inclusion

Benton Franklin Head Start uses a model of inclusion for children with developmental disabilities. This means that each child is a full member of his/her classroom and participates in all activities.

If special services, such as a speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, or specialized instruction are needed, school district special education consultants work closely with the parent and Benton Franklin Head Start staff to arrange services and accommodate each child's learning needs.

These special services are provided at no cost to the family and continue as long as the child qualifies. Most Benton Franklin Head Start classrooms have a school district special education consultant assigned to work with the children, staff, and families.
